At the heart of Meraki Sextett lies the idea of meraki – creating something with heart, soul and complete dedication. The Swiss ensemble brings together four horns, double bass and drums in an unusual line-up without a harmony instrument, creating a transparent and highly flexible collective sound.

Fragile melodic lines meet powerful rhythms and shifting textures, moving between moments of deep melancholy and euphoric intensity. Drawing inspiration from contemporary jazz, classical and folk music, the band's original compositions leave plenty of space for improvisation, interaction and spontaneity.

In 2024, Meraki Sextett was nominated for the ZKB Jazz Prize and has performed at venues including Moods Zürich. Their debut EP Nachtflug, released in December 2023, captures the band's distinctive approach to sound and ensemble playing.

At its core, Meraki Sextett's music is driven by curiosity, playfulness and a restless energy – sometimes intimate and fragile, sometimes explosive, but always in motion.
